The name "Kirkside" is a salute to the Scottish heritage of one of the company's former owners. In Scotland, a "kirk" is a church. The original home and corporate office of Kirkside Real Estate was located, appropriately enough, at the side of the auld kirk of Holy Trinity in Old Strathcona, Edmonton.
